Rolf Stool

The Rolf stool was designed to address environmental, ergonomic, economic and storage issues. The stool, which can be used as a side table, displays the DNA like qualities of cross-laminated bamboo board, mesmerising the viewer with it’s simplicity of form and complexity of pattern. The entire stool is produced from bamboo, a renewable, highly sustainable material, six screws and a water-based finish.

The stool is ergonomically designed with its triangular seat to reduce the amount of stress on the underside of a person’s legs whilst seated, and is stackable when not in use. The stool is designed to yield 9-10 seats from a single 30mm thick 1200mm x 2400mm sheet, and is flat-packable, enabling efficient delivery and removal when required. The seat has an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio and is also available in coffee.
