The Wambamboo philosophy is about creating pieces, which factor in the whole-of-life cycle of a product, from its material origin and benefits, biodegradability and recyclability. Wambamboo’s business model is not about making and selling thousands of cheap mass-produced pieces in order to make a substantial profit. Wambamboo is about necessity, environmentally aware practices and design for the future, with a tactile hands-on approach.

All pieces use Moso bamboo, a rapidly renewable, durable and environmentally preferred material, with referenced use recorded to 3000 BC. Other materials used in the range are recyclable, water based or energy efficient, using low impact production methods.

Pieces are produced to promote the benefits of bamboo, with production restricted to confirmation of orders, so production will never oversupply the market nor over consume the resource.

All pieces are designed to efficiently use the material to its full potential during the production process to reduce waste. Any waste material is reclaimed and put aside for use in future prototypes/pieces. CNC processes are employed to increase accuracy and reduce workplace accidents. Pieces are then hand-assembled and finished to a high standard, with attention to detail.

Pieces are more expensive than similar use mass-produced pieces because of the cost of the material, processes and craftsmanship involved. This inturn reduces the likelihood of a consumer discarding or throwing pieces away. Sadly the majority of consumers are more inclined to buy ten $20 seats rather than one $200 seat without thinking whether they really need all ten seats. The same consumers are also more inclined to throw away those ten $20 seats rather than the $200 which may last a life-time, appreciating in material, sentimental and economic value.
